I'm proud to say Bernie Kelly was my Godfather. Bernie was my father's best friend dating back to their Park Slope days in Brooklyn. That friendship only grew stronger as the hair on their heads slowly turned grey or in Bernie's case, white. Their fondness for each other was a true inspiration. Bernie Kelly was a loving husband, caring father, adoring brother, devout catholic and most of all a true friend. I learned more about what true friendship really was/is watching Bernie and my father foster their love, care and respect they had for each other every single day of their lives. They were committed to their friendship. Bernie, from all of us Cooper Ave Mylods, we cherish the memories you provided, the love you gave us and most of all being a true friend to our father for over 80 years.
"When I count my blessings, I count you twice. "
