Obituary of Douglas W. Lallier

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Douglas W. Lallier, 64, of Englishtown. He passed away peacefully at Monmouth Medical Center with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He fought a courageous battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He was born in Schenectady, New York. He eventually settled in Englishtown, New Jersey. Douglas was the owner of his own business, Center State Distributors and worked for the Middlesex County Health Department.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Tracy Lallier of Englishtown; children, Cindy Lallier of Manalapan, Shannon Schoenemann and her husband, Andrew of Howell, and Kevin Lallier of Englishtown; and two granddaughters, Riley and Teagan. He is also survived by his brother Charles Lallier and his wife Rebecca of Durham, North Carolina, his brother-in-law Michael Ward of Richmond, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Keith and Betty Lallier and his sister Jill Ward.

He graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey with a major in Hotel and Restaurant Management but his free spirit led him in multiple directions throughout his life. He opened his own business but since work was a hobby, he was always looking for other jobs to fill his time. One of his favorite parts of working was getting to know the people he worked with and finding ways to make everyone smile.

When he managed to have free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling on cruises, going to the Poconos to fish, or simply taking his dogs for a walk. One of his favorite pastimes was the challenge of winning prizes at the boardwalk. He couldn’t just win one, he always had to fill the car with giant stuffed animals. After winning, he would donate most of the prizes or donate them out to random children.

He truly had the biggest heart and was always looking for ways to brighten the lives of the people around him. He was a kid at heart and always made a joke of everything. If he saw anyone in need, he never hesitated to go above and beyond to help in any way. He was selfless and gave freely and never wanted the attention for his good deeds because it truly came from the heart. He was loyal and looked out for those he loved. He had a soft spot for animals and children. He will truly be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jill’s Blankets.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Funeral Home.
