It was with great sadness that I received the call from Wayne about Evie' passing. Evie and I grew up as friends in Madison NJ. Our parents were good friends for many many years. Evie and I would go, with our moms, to Mrs. Dodge's annual famous dog shows in Madison! Our families spent time together at their beautiful summer home by Lake Hopatcong where I had my first bear encounter! We had many long phone conversations over the years after I moved away from NJ. I will always treasure our great talks and the hours of fun and laughter which we shared. Evie lit up my life, and I will miss her so much. My heart goes out to her entire family during this sad and difficult time. May the memories of her smile, laughter, and warm heart be a gift she left for us all. Diane (Burger) Spiecker

I just learned of Evie’s passing. Unfortunately, I am unable to visit or attend her funeral. Please know that I am thinking of you, particularly Wayne, Tracy, and Brian as well as Bob. I am sending my deepest condolences and prayers. We were such good friends for many years and I will miss her. She was special to me. May she Rest In Peace. Her longtime friend Caryle. We met in 1955 and immediately became friends.

In 2018, Evie and Wayne came to see me in the rehab center. They had brought the church bulletin because it had my son's name in it, he is the minister, Randy Sakach. They thought it would be easier to find what room it was in. They didn't know we didn't share the same last name AND my first name was just a nickname. I heard someone in the hallway and when I went see who it was, sure enough it was Evie and Wayne. We had a big laugh on how they found me, They never would have found me with the information they had. They brought me a 'word finder booklet' and I still have it. When I can't sleep, I pick it up and it always reminds me of them. I will miss her.
