Obituary of William J. Crombie, III

William J. “Bill” Crombie III, 77, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Newark, raised in Kearny, and had lived in Manalapan for 51 years before recently settling in Freehold Township. Bill started working at a young age in the supermarket business as a bag boy with A&P and worked his way up the ranks, retiring as the Vice President of Advertising & Merchandising for Wakefern Food Corp (Shoprite) in Elizabeth. He enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City with his adoring wife, Ann, going out to dinner with friends, building things around the house, and helping others understand their financial potential. Bill was a kind, thoughtful & smart man who taught himself countless skills that he carried throughout life. He was truly proud of how far he came from childhood. Above all, he was a true family man and proud father who enjoyed spending quality time with his loved ones.

He was predeceased by his parents, William J. Crombie II and Bertha. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ann Crombie of Freehold; daughter, Jennifer Crombie and her wife, Shealyn of Freehold Borough; sister-in-law, Linda Sendziak of Parlin; nephew, Vincent Sendziak and his wife, Jenn; niece, Denise Sendziak and her partner, Robert Hutchinson; great niece, Alyssa Sendziak; and great nephews, Jonathan Sendziak and Ryan Hutchinson.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Funeral Home. Entombment will be private.
