Obituary of James William Basile
James William Basile, 76, of Millstone Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by all who loved him on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born in Jersey City, raised in North Bergen and had lived in Matawan before settling here in 1995. James was a proud and patriotic veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam in the Delta Company Third Battalion Fourth Infantry. He was a hardworking man as the lead service appliance technician for A & E Factory Service for many years prior to his retirement. A selfless and dedicated family man, James was his wife’s primary caretaker. Strong in his faith, he always had a positive mindset, a contagious smile, witty sense of humor and was always filled with hope. James exercised regularly, maintained a healthy lifestyle, and was proud to have participated in a total of six marathons. He was a simple man who loved sports, was an avid Yankee and Giants fan, and enjoyed keeping busy making a beautiful home for his wife.
James was predeceased by his parents, James and Anna Basile. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Norma Velez-Basile; four daughters, Roseann Iannaccone and her husband, Michael of Millstone Township; Dawn Daza and her fiancé, Frankie Miller of Old Bridge, Nancy Basile of Browns Mills and Jaime Lee Basile of Brick; eleven grandchildren, Josaphine, Brian, Andrew, Alexia, Joseph, Angelina, Jessica, Eric, Gianna, JaeLee, and Brett; four siblings, Frances Duda and her husband, Stephen, Joseph Basile and his wife, Denise, Robert Basile and his wife, Kim, and John Basile and his wife, Ana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, September 4, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone. Interment will follow in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
