Betty's beautiful smile will always remain in my mind's eye and her kindness in my heart.
She and my mom were friends, tablemates and/or roommates at their Assisted Living for many years.
What most remains in my thoughts for all of those years was the heartfelt love and proudness with which she spoke of her children, some of which I was very pleased to meet.
Once, when Betty was in the ladies room a bit longer than usual, my mom was concerned and asked the aide if she was ok, she told the aide that she would not believe her until she saw Betty with her own eyes. I would like to think that they are still looking out for each other and maybe even raising a glass or two of apple juice for old times sake.
