Obituary of Joseph M. "Joe" Veltre
Joseph M. Veltre, 88, of Marlboro passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He was born and raised in Manhattan and lived in Pompton Plains and Manchester NJ before settling here in 2022. Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War stationed in West Point. He worked for many years as a Director, Operations, Planning, and Development for United States Lines. Later in his career he ran and operated one of the largest import and export companies at Holland Hook Terminals in Staten Island. His career took him all over the world and he traveled intensely in Asia. Joe was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine of Freehold Township, and a member of the Italian-American Club in Pompton Plains. He enjoyed being active and could be found golfing and playing tennis. A New York sports fan at heart, his favorite teams included the Yankees, Rangers, and Giants.
Joe was predeceased by three sisters, Rose, Tiny, and Josephine; and a brother, Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Anna Marie; two daughters, Cathy Jacovelli and her husband, Domenic of Lakeland, FL and Patty Bartiromo and her husband, Joe of Freehold Township; and his beautiful twin granddaughters, Gabriella and Gianna.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
