Obituary of Joan Margherita
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Francis Clementina Natale Elizabeth Fecci Margherita, a beloved mother, grandmother (Nana), and cherished pillar of her community. Joan peacefully departed this life on Monday, May 27th, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in the vibrant borough of The Bronx, New York, Joan was the devoted wife of the late Edward Margherita, whose memory she held close since his passing in 2016.
Following their marriage in 1959, Joan and her husband Ed moved to Staten Island where they raised three children together: Eddie, Lisa and Linda. The family enjoyed spending their summers camping along the Delaware River, as well as enjoying their summer home that they built at Conashaugh Lakes in the Poconos.
In their later years, Joan and Ed established roots in Barnegat, New Jersey, where they became cherished members of the community at The Four Seasons at Mirage. Joan's vivacious spirit flourished as she engaged in community activities, from friendly card games to nurturing her passion for arts and crafts, particularly painting ceramics.
In 2020, Joan came to North Hanover to live with her daughter, Linda, Linda’s boyfriend, Brian, and her granddaughter, Julianna.
Joan's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the joy of family. In addition to her three children, Joan is survived by four grandchildren, Christian, Julianna, Taylor, and Robby.
Joan had a natural gift for humor and storytelling. She had a knack for bringing smiles to the faces of those around her with her quick wit and infectious laughter. Her jokes and lighthearted spirit brought warmth to every gathering, creating lasting memories for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
From her youth, Joan's passion for the New York Yankees burned bright. She was not only a devoted fan but also a trailblazer, having founded the Phil Rizzuto Fan Club, a testament to her unwavering devotion to her beloved team. Throughout her life, she could often be found cheering on the Yankees, bringing excitement and enthusiasm to every game she watched. Her love for the sport will forever remain a cherished memory among those who knew her.
The void left by Joan's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Yet, her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will endure, serving as a beacon of light for those whose lives she touched.
A gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM with her memorial service to follow at 5:30 PM.
