Steven L. Griffin, 76, of Farmingdale passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.  A lifelong resident of Farmingdale, he was a familiar face around town.  Steve was a volunteer fireman having served as chief and playing the role of Santa Claus for several Christmas seasons.  He worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Asbury Park for over 47 years.  After retiring from NAPA in 2015, Steve was a crossing guard for the Farmingdale Elementary School from 2016 until 2024.  An animal lover and a devoted family man, he loved being outdoors and enjoyed going to the inlet with his wife.  Steve spent time camping and gardening where he enjoyed tending to his many birdfeeders.  He loved telling his stories but mostly making people laugh with his jokes.  Steve was loved by all he met and will be sorely missed.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Shirley Griffin; his brother, Timothy Griffin; and many aunts and uncles.  Steve is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol; son, Brian Griffin and his partner, Abbi Lewis; daughter, Karen Ganley and her husband, John; grandchildren, Madilyn, Griffin and Braydin; siblings, Michael Gallagher, Sharon Whatley, and Billy Joe Griffin and his wife, Linda; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, West Farms Road and Adelphia Road, Howell.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to CHOP Foundation, 3401 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19104.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
