I am Virginia, my mother's oldest child and when we moved to Floral Park, NY in 1949 my mother was happy to have the whole family in our home. The family consisted of our mother and father, my brother Paul, our grandma and grandpa and our nana.
As my brother said in his story my mother never once complained about caring for our father after he had his stroke. It was a joy for her to care for him as he had always provided for the family and was good to her and us. During the past 25 years she would often talk about her Frankie.
At one point my mother was even caring for her own mother at the same time she was taking such good care of my father.
My mother was excellent at knitting, crocheting and sewing. She loved making things for all of us. I had some of the best outfits when I was going to school that my mother made for me.
Family was very important to her and she will be greatly missed.
